How much does it cost to be Dealer ?

There is no buy-in fee, no marketing fee, and no royalty fee.  Rather, we require you to invest into your business.  We want you to have a commercial location with a demonstration pool, invest in marketing, participate in training, and be actively selling pools.  Typically, dealers invest $10k to $30k in the first year depending on what they already have in place.

What do you mean by a commercial location ?

You will need to have a space that can have a demonstration pool, a small office to conduct business, display samples, and review designs with customers.  This does not have to be full retail location, but also, it is not usually at your home either.  This can be brick an mortar building, a steel building, a trailer, or even a converted shipping container.  We will entertain any good idea.

Do you offer training and where is it held ?

We require you to attend training shortly after contract signing.  We will train you in pool sales, product knowledge, marketing, legal pitfalls, pool operations, and membrane installation.  The training is held at Acworth (Atlanta area) GA location.  The training is typically broken up into 2 sessions, each about 4 days long spread out over 4-6 weeks depending on mutual schedules.  The training is free, but you are responsible for your travel.  We will also travel to your location during your first 2 pool builds to reinforce what you learned at our facility.

Why can't you do all the training at my location ?

We recognize that for some dealers, Atlanta is not close and it costs money to travel.  However, after years of doing training different ways, we found that training at our facility is the best use of everyone’s time and money.  We have all the resources available, are not impacted by weather, and not distracted by things that happen at home like other jobs and family issues.  We want you to be successful so starting with good training is key.  Besides, being away from the rind and grind at home for a few days can be good for the soul.

How much does a pool cost?

That question is difficult to answer.  It is a little bit like how much does a car cost?  Three general concepts drive what a pool will cost.  The first is the size, shape and depth.  The bigger, deeper, or more weird shape the pool is, the more it will cost.  The second is how much personalization is going into the pool.  Things like spillover spas, tanning ledges, benches, heaters, saltwater pools, etc. can add thousands to the base pool cost.  Finally, what is needed in the back yard?  Does it need a retaining wall, dirt or trees removed, a fence, septic tanks moved, etc.? A simple pool generally starts at $45k and there is no limit to what it can ultimately cost.

Can Desjoyaux Pools have special water features ?

Any water feature that can be installed on any other type of pool can be installed on a Desjoyaux pool.  Saltwater pool chlorinators, heaters, lights, diving boards, zero-entry, infinity edge, slides, waterfalls, sheer descents, tanning ledges, custom shapes and sizes, etc.  can all be installed. Of course, adding these types of things makes the pool more complicated requiring more installation knowledge and customer maintenance over the years.  Some things are more common (saltwater pools, heaters, and lights), while others are very custom and should be seriously considered before undertaking such a task (spas, grottos, etc.).

How big (or little) or deep (or shallow) can you build with a Desjoyaux pool ?

You can build any size, shape, or depth with a Desjoyaux pool.  A typical pool, (without a zero-entry) will be 42″ of water in the shallow end.  While it is possible to go to almost any depth, the current trends are to have deep ends that are 6′ or less, although there are still some customers that want 8′ or more, and that is possible too.  Deeper pools are more expensive to build and more expensive to maintain for the homeowner and the “green” designs today mean depth is less, not more.

Why are most of your pools rectangles? What about free-form pools ?

You can build whatever the customer wants, that is in their budget, and fits the location.  The current style trend is rectilinear designs, such as rectangles, “L-shape” and “T-shape” pools.  Only about 10% of the pools we build have some sort of curved feature.   The rectangle is a classic design that in never trendy or out of style. “L-shape” and “T-shape” pools allow for the entry area to be out of the way of the main swimming area and they are very popular these days.

How do you say "Desjoyaux" and what does it mean?

Desjoyaux is the family name of the business.  Jean Desjoyaux founded the business in 1966 and like many companies he named it after himself.  The best way to learn to pronounce it is to start with color beige, but change the “b” to a “d”.  Then say the letter “Y” and then the letter “O”.  Desjoyaux becomes “deige-y-o”.  Add a bit of a French accent and you will sound awesome.
